We are seeking a full-time

Avionics Installation Technician in our Olathe, KS location.

In this role, you will be responsible for installing certified and experimental avionics systems in FAR (Federal Aviation Regulations) part 23, 25, 27 and 29 aircraft and assist in development of documentation for new avionics system.

Essential Functions

  • Modify aircraft to accommodate and remote mounted avionics equipment
  • Prepare new aircraft wiring harnesses in accordance with Engineering drawings and installation documents
  • Troubleshoot existing avionics installation interconnects
  • Use ramp test equipment to proper function of installed avionics
  • Assist Engineering in development and verification of new installation documentation
  • Assist in maintenance and aircraft movement in the hangar
  • Compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must possess 1-year general aviation, maintenance or avionics experience and/or equivalent combination of education, military aviation experience and/or aviation related experience
  • Must possess experience substantially similar to the essential functions of this job description with installing avionics systems in piston, turbine and turbojet aircraft
  • Must possess demonstrated ability to read and interpret aircraft wiring diagrams and installations manuals relevant to Garmin’s business needs
  • Must possess understanding of commercial avionics interface standards and their installation relevant to Garmin’s business needs
  • Must possess experience in implementation/modification of aircraft pitot-static systems
  • Must possess the ability to routinely bend, twist, and lift up to 50 lbs. and occasionally team lift up to 100 lbs. while using safe lifting techniques; pushing/pulling equipment up to 200 lbs.; standing and sitting for extended periods of time; kneeling, stooping, crouching, and crawling: climbing and utilizing ladders to connect cables and walking long distances throughout the facility; repetitive motion; tolerates products, materials and fumes associated with aircraft maintenance; tolerates working in confined spaces and heights above four feet
  • Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and noisy environments

Desired Qualifications

  • FAA (Federal Aviation istration) Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic certificate
  • FAA Inspection Authorization
  • Experience using desktop computer systems
  • Experience producing and modifying drawings using AutoCAD

We are also seeking Design Engineers in our Olathe, KS location.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and project planning for complex analog, digital, and/or RF designs for products that are new for Garmin.

Essential Functions

  • Serves in leadership capacity for carrying out complex design and development of analog, digital or RF designs for products that involve complicated schematics and PCB design consisting of one or more PCB’s
  • May serve as a Project Engineer on new projects that involve a new design or major changes to an existing design
  • Teams with Production and Engineering to design the best PCB solutions ing for thermal and space constraints and to turn on new processors along with ensuring robust designs and appropriate testability
  • Collaborates and adds value through participation in design reviews
  • Offers process improvement suggestions, authors new procedures, and provides technical input to product development plans and concept documents along with making substantial contributions toward determination of project goal/objective feasibility
  • Plans and develops experimental test programs to compliance to all applicable regulations and quality guidelines using software tools and test equipment
  • Analyzes test data and reports to determine if the proposed design meets functional and performance specifications and to determine if applicable to developing other systems
  • Interfaces with the Test Engineers and factory personnel on the testing and production of products and production facilities in the manufacture of products and directs and coordinates manufacture of prototype
  • Investigates, researches and evaluates the usage of the latest components and technologies and performs cost/performance tradeoff analysis of different circuit options

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency with a complicated schematic and PCB design consisting of one or more PCB’s
  • Broad technical knowledge and skills in one or more areas of Electrical Engineering (e.g., analog, digital, RF, and/or DSP)

Desired Qualifications

  • Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
  • Extensive circuit design experience for consumer or aviation products
