TOPEKA, Kan. (KCTV) - The Kansas Department of Health and Environment and the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks issued public health advisories Friday for blue-green algae in several counties.

Officials said an active warning advisory is in place for Atchison City Lake #9 and Atchison State Fishing Lake.

An active watch advisory is in place in Douglas County at Clinton Lake and at Warnock Lake in Atchison County.

Public health officials said Harmful Algae Blooms are something Kansans should remain vigilant about and said they may look like foam, scum or paint floating on the water.

The KDHE said if you or your pets come into with algae to rinse the area with clean, fresh water. Any suspected HAB-related health incidents should be reported here.
