HENRY CO., Mo. (KCTV) - A Missouri woman could be sentenced to decades behind bars after she allegedly stole the pickup truck of a man who let her stay in his home.

Henry County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Monday, June 9, indicate that Margaret M. Paris, 28, of Creighton, has been charged with the theft of a pickup truck.

A probable cause statement filed by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office revealed that just after 7:15 a.m. on March 30, law enforcement officials received reports of a stolen Ford F-150.

The truck’s owner reported to investigators that he allowed a woman identified as Paris to stay the night at his home; however, when he woke up, Paris and his truck were gone.

Law enforcement officials noted that the next day, they received another call from the victim who reported he had found his truck parked near a home associated with Paris in Lebanon. He reported that she ultimately gave him the keys back as he took possession of the truck again; however, he still wanted to press charges.

As a result, Paris has been charged with stealing a motor vehicle and stealing $750 or more, crimes for which she could face up to 22 years in prison if convicted. A warrant for her arrest was not issued; however, she was served a criminal summons for an initial appearance scheduled at 9 a.m. on July 25.

No further information has been released.
