Woman accused of attempting to run over children’s grandfather during custody dispute
HUME, Mo. (KCTV) - Investigators are searching for a Missouri woman accused of attempting to run over the grandfather of two children during a recent custody dispute.
Bates County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Wednesday, June 11, indicate that Denna K. Bogan, 42, of Hume, has been charged in connection with the incident.
A probable cause statement filed by the Bates County Sheriff’s Office revealed that on May 9, law enforcement officials were made aware of a custody dispute in rural Hume. The caller, Bogan, later called back and reported that intervention was not needed.
Meanwhile, investigators said they fielded a call from the victim who reported Bogan tried to run over him with her car multiple times. The victim reported that an adult who does not have legal custody of the children showed up demanding to take them. When she was denied, she called Bogan.
The Sheriff’s Office indicated that Bogan allegedly attempted to run the victim over three separate times. He was able to avoid her twice, but was hit and thrown into his car on the third. A vehicle at the scene was found to have extensive damage caused by the incident.
Law enforcement officials noted that they were able to speak with Bogan over the phone later in the day. At which time, she denied all allegations set against her. She signed a written statement the next day as such.
When investigators looked at Bogan’s vehicle, they said they found damage consistent with the collision described by the victim. As a result, she has been charged with assault in the second degree and property damage.
A warrant for Bogan’s arrest was issued on Wednesday, with the condition of a $14,500 bond allowed. As of Wednesday evening, she does not appear to have been taken into custody. A court appearance has not yet been set. No further information has been released.
