INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) - A motorcyclist died late Tuesday after being involved in a serious crash, the Independence Police Department reported.

IPD said that around 10:13 p.m. on June 10, an unidentified motorcyclist on a Harley-Davidson was driving east on 44th Terrace.

Around Phelps Road, the biker started driving the wrong way down the westbound lanes of 44th Terrace and hit a 2016 Kia Soul parked on the side of the road. Both the Harley-Davidson and the Kia caught on fire as a result.

Paramedics said the motorcyclist did not appear to be wearing a helmet during the crash and died at the scene.
