Extradited: Man charged in Lee’s Summit police shooting appears before Jackson County judge
INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) - The man charged with shooting a Lee’s Summit police officer multiple times as he responded to a domestic disturbance on June 1 made his first court appearance in Independence on Wednesday, June 11.

Thomas Eugene Tolbert was extradited to Missouri, where Lee’s Summit officer Jared Timbrook was shot.
Tolbert was found and arrested outside Hays, Kansas, roughly 30 hours after allegedly fleeing the Residences at Echelon apartment complex at 3500 block of SE Hollywood Drive, where the shooting occurred in the complex parking lot.
During Tolbert’s appearance before a judge, it was determined that his bond hearing will take place on June 17 at 1 p.m.
The officer Tolbert is accused of shooting and running from, is out of the hospital and expected to make a full recovery. Timbrook was shot four times, one bullet hitting above his vest into his chest.
Timbrook has worked on the Lee’s Summit police force for 1.5 years. Before LSPD Timbrook worked approximately 7 years at another agency.
