Police seek man accused of shooting that left woman in critical condition
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - An arrest warrant has been issued for a Kansas City man accused of shooting a woman in the chest point-blank and leaving her in critical condition.
Jackson County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Monday, June 9, indicate that Clarence E. Hordge, 36, of Kansas City, has been charged in connection with the shooting.
A probable cause statement filed by the Kansas City Police Department revealed that on Feb. 9, law enforcement officials were called to a local hospital with reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they met with a victim who had a gunshot wound to her chest that left her in critical condition.
Investigators noted that the victim reported she had been driving Hordge in her vehicle when an argument broke out between the two. When they reached his destination, she alleged that he refused to exit the car and ultimately fired a single shot into her chest before he ran away.
A witness who had been inside the vehicle also reported that Hordge fired the gun before he drove the victim to the hospital. Surveillance footage from the scene backed up both the witness’s and the victim’s chain of events.
Law enforcement officials indicated that a warrant was not issued for Hordge’s arrest until Monday, June 9, when he was charged with assault in the first degree and armed criminal action. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 25 years in prison.
As of Tuesday afternoon, June 10, Hordge does not appear to have been apprehended. A court appearance has not yet been scheduled. No further information has been released.
