LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) - A motorcycle driver was taken to a nearby hospital after he lost control of his bike and slid into slow-moving traffic on K-10 Highway south of Lawrence.

The Douglas County, Kansas, Sheriff’s Office says that just before 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, emergency crews were called to the area of K-10 Highway between Iowa St. and Wakarusa Dr. with reports of a motorcycle crash.

Investigators noted that the crash was found to have happened in slow-moving traffic as the 31-year-old motorcycle driver braked for traffic ahead of him. The driver lost control of the bike and slid into an oncoming vehicle.

First responders said the driver, who was from Lawrence, was taken to a Topeka-area hospital for treatment of his injuries. K-10 had been shot down in both directions as crews investigated the crash, but it was reopened around 2:20 p.m.

No further information has been released.
