Grant funds to help extend reach of breastfeeding coalitions in Kansas
MANHATTAN, Kan. (KCTV) - Around $10,000 has been given to community breastfeeding coalitions to help several coalitions extend their reach in the Sunflower State.
The Kansas Breastfeeding Coalition recently announced that $10,000 in grants has been distributed to 14 local coalitions. Local coalitions are expected to have the necessary resources to address barriers faced by breastfeeding families and close community ties.
“More than 90% of families in Kansas choose to breastfeed,” said Stephanne Rupnicki, Chair of the Kansas Breastfeeding Coalition Board. “Breastfeeding matters—for the health of our babies, our parents, and our communities. We’re honored to work alongside local coalitions to build strong systems so families feel seen, heard, and lifted up in their feeding journeys.”
With the award, KBC leaders said the Sunflower State is a step closer to the realization of the long-term benefits of breastfeeding. Through collaborations with healthcare systems, providers and public health professionals, hardworking local coalitions continue to help lead the way to a healthier future.

- Coffey County Breastfeeding Coalition
- Community Breastfeeding Coalition
- Ellis County Breastfeeding Coalition
- Frontier Breastfeeding Coalition
- Harvey County Breastfeeding Coalition
- Johnson County Breastfeeding Coalition
- Lyon County Breastfeeding Coalition (formerly LATCH)
- Miami County Breastfeeding Coalition
- Saline County Breastfeeding Coalition
- Smith County Breastfeeding Coalition
- The Lactation Club
- Topeka Breastfeeding Coalition
- Wichita Black Breastfeeding Coalition
