KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - There is now a time change for a construction project that caused significant slowdowns on Southbound I-35 last week.

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) started bridge deck repairs over Summit Street and West 27th on June 3. The daily double lane closures started at 6 a.m. with an end time of 8 p.m. The work was being done in the height of the morning rush hour.

On June 8, the timeframe was changed to the evening and overnight, going from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m.

A construction project caused major delays on I-35 Southbound Wednesday morning.

According to MoDOT, the repairs are part of a larger project with work being done in Cass, Jackson, and Platte Counties.

Initially set to end on June 16, it is now extended to June 20.

Drivers are advised to slow down and pay attention in work zones. It may also be helpful to plan alternative routes or add more time to your commute.
