KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 10pm for Linn County Kansas along with Bates, Henry, Johnson and Pettis Counties in Missouri. The main hazard is large to very large hail, quarter to baseball sized. Isolated areas of wind gusting to 70 mph is possible along with a small chance of a tornado or two. Storms will move southeast around 25 mph.

If you are in or near these counties, the window for severe storms is now through 6pm. You will likely be dropped from the watch at this time because any storms will be south of you. You will be in the clear once the environmental winds outside the storms roll in from the north.

Secondary scattered showers develop behind the cold front and linger through 8pm. These will not be severe.

MONDAY: Winds will shift out of the northwest after the cold front. That northwest flow keeps us locked into a cooler day on Monday. It looks beautiful in the upper 70s with low humidity and winds NW 10-20 mph.

TUESDAY: That cooler stint is brief as mid-80s return Tuesday with southerly winds.

WEDNESDAY: Wednesday should be our warmest day in a while in the mid to upper 80s. The first half of the week looks completely dry and sunny.

THURSDAY: Our next rain chance comes on Thursday. There is not great agreement that it will rain, so we are going with a 30% confidence for now.

FRIDAY: Friday has a First Warn for slightly higher thunderstorm chances, but only a 40% confidence for now. The pattern looks a bit more active late this next week as humidity and temperatures climb with ing shortwave disturbances.
