KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The clock is ticking for many overseas students who are planning to study in the metro this fall. One local organization is asking the community for families to step up and take in students.

Heidi Sullivan finds exchange families and matches them with students. With only a few months until the school year begins, it’s vital that students get placed in a family soon.

“It becomes a little harder because a lot of schools are already full - they have a limit on the number of students.” said Sullivan.

Nacho Temes Serra is finishing up his foreign exchange year. He was welcomed by his family with open arms.

“They accept me as one of the family,” said Temes Serra.

Sullivan said that President Trump’s recent international travel bans and visa restrictions shouldn’t be reason for worry for incoming students.

“I have not heard of any concern form host parents, and I really don’t think this is going to impact us,” said Sullivan.

Certain embassies have told students that the recent bans might slightly slow down the visa process, but these high school students will still be able to study in the United States this fall.
