KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - For the second time this season, Kansas City Current forward Temwa Chawinga has been named the NWSL’s Player of the Month.

Her honor in May comes after she scored three goals in four matches for the Current. It also follows her winning the same award in March.

The 2024 NWSL MVP and Golden Boot winner has now won the award five times in her career, which is a league record.

Her play in May led the club to a 3-1 record, including three consecutive wins to end the month.

Entering Week 11 of the season, Chawinga is tied for second in the NWSL Golden Boot race. She has six goals and one assist in the 2025 season.

Chawinga and the Current -- who are at the top of the NWSL table -- return to play on Saturday, June 7, against Gotham FC at noon CT.
