Royals set Caglianone’s place in lineup for MLB debut

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KCTV) - Kansas City Royals top prospect Jac Caglianone is set to make his Major League debut Tuesday night in the second I-70 series of the season for the Royals.

Now, Caglianone has a position and spot in the lineup.

The Royals released their lineup for Tuesday night’s game, placing Caglianone sixth in the lineup as the team’s designated hitter.

The 2024 first-round pick out of Florida was selected sixth overall by the Royals as a first baseman and pitcher. While in Double-A and Triple-A this season, he also spent time in the outfield.

Caglianone follows veteran catcher Salvador Perez in the Royals lineup and is hitting ahead of outfielders Nick Loftin and Drew Waters, who each also spent time with the Omaha Storm Chasers prior to call-ups this season.

In 199 minor league at-bats this season, Caglianone has a .322 average, 15 home runs, 56 RBIs and 41 runs scored. He got his MLB call-up before playing 80 total minor league games.

The Royals and Cardinals will begin tonight’s game at 6:45 p.m. CT.
