OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (KCTV) - November seems a long time away, but we know who will be facing off in the Overland Park mayoral election: Curt Skoog and Faris Farassati.

Those are the only two that have filed for the election by the noon deadline on Monday, June 2. That means there will not be a primary election for that race, and both advance to the General Election on Tuesday, November 4.

Skoog won the mayor’s office in the general election after a close race with Mike Czinege in 2021.

Farassati was one of four candidates vying for the job in 2021, but he was eliminated in the primary.

Curt Skoog was first elected to the Overland Park City Council in 2005 and kept that seat until he ran for mayor.

Farassati was first appointed to the city council in May of 2017. He was elected later that year and was re-elected in 2019. Farassati lost his last re-election bid in 2023 to Inas Younis.
