According to a corrections statement, he did not return to the facility on Wednesday or report to his job.

Mansfield, who was described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing 185 pounds, is considered dangerous, the Department of Corrections stated. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt with black designs, long black sleeve undershirt, brown boots, brown baseball hat and stonewashed jeans.

KCTV5 learned that Mansfield was using an app on his cell phone to arrange for his transportation. He did not request a ride back to the facility using that app.

The corrections staff is talking to the person who gave him that ride along with his roommates.

The Johnson County Department of Corrections wasn’t available for an interview on the investigation but told KCTV5,

“Anthony Mansfield, an inmate residing at the Adult Residential Center (ARC) and assigned to the Work Release Program, failed to return to the facility at the scheduled time yesterday. Correctional staff attempted to locate him. After those efforts were unsuccessful, Mr. Mansfield was formally declared absent without leave, and staff immediately notified the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and the Kansas Department of Corrections. We will continue to coordinate closely with law enforcement agencies.”

Mansfield was serving eight months at the minimum-security 398-bed facility, which allows offenders to keep their jobs off-site and report back at night. Mansfield failed to do that Wednesday, sparking the search.

According to the county’s website, the main objective of the program he was in is to reintegrate offenders into the community as successful, productive citizens.

Anyone with information on Mansfield has been asked to call 816-266-2102, 913-715-6539, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation at (800) 572-7463 or local law enforcement at 911.
