Early-morning shooting leaves man dead on Kansas City sidewalk
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Homicide detectives are investigating a shooting they believe was the result of an argument early Saturday morning.
According to the Kansas City Police Department, officers were called to the area of 42nd and Cleveland Avenue around 2 a.m. on May 17 for reports of a shooting.
Responding officers found a man lying on the sidewalk outside a home with gunshot wounds. They gave him medical aid until paramedics arrived, and he was declared dead. Later on Saturday, KD identified him as 50-year-old Dante Franklin but released no further information.
KD said investigators spoke with several witnesses and believe the victim was interacting with one or more suspects when the incident escalated into a shooting. There does not appear to be a person of interest in custody at this time.
