SEDALIA, Mo. (KCTV) - A 29-year-old man is behind bars after a bullet from his gun allegedly ended up in the bookcase of a nearby home during an attempted drive-by shooting.

Pettis County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Thursday, May 15, indicate that Jubyris M. Jordan, 29, of Sedalia, has been charged in connection with a shooting that damaged a home.

A probable cause statement filed by the Sedalia Police Department revealed that while responding to reports of a disturbance, they were approached by a man who reported Jordan had shot at him while he was driving. The pair had gotten into an argument before the victim left and Jordan hit his truck with a pole.

The victim told investigators that he later noticed Jordan had followed him in his own vehicle and, while in the area of W. 10th and S. Carr Ave., fired at least 2 shots at him. Jordan quit following the victim after this.

Law enforcement officials said a nearby home that was occupied by two adults and a child is believed to have been hit by Jordan’s gunfire. One bullet entered through the front wall and struck a bookcase, while an outside wall stopped the second. No injuries were reported as a result.

Court records indicated that Jordan has been charged with attempted assault in the first-degree, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful discharge of a firearm, property damage and two counts of armed criminal action.

A warrant was issued for Jordan’s arrest on Thursday. As of Saturday, May 17, he has been taken into custody and remains behind bars with no bond listed. A hearing has not yet been scheduled no further information has been released.
