KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A mother-son duo are charged with forgery and tampering in both Platte and Jackson Counties. Police said they’ve received numerous complaints of illegally towing cars and other crimes.

The Kansas City Police Department is making it easier for possible victims to detectives investigating the claims.

Property Crimes Detectives ask anyone who believes a tow company illegally towed their car this year to email them at [email protected].

They also want to hear from anyone who had difficulty retrieving a vehicle from a tow company since Jan. 1, 2025, or felt fines and storage fees were exorbitant.

“We are committed to seeking justice against these types of perpetrators,” the department said in a social media message.

Donald Adamson owns Metro Tow and Transport. His mother operates MOKAN Property Services. She also is a property manager at three Kansas City-area apartment complexes, according to court documents.

According to a probable cause statement, investigators accused the two of using falsified state forms to tow vehicles from apartment complexes. The forms did not include the proper authorization, according to the court documents.

Donald and his mother posted bond April 16, but are being held in Jackson County because they each have an active warrant for their arrests in Platte County.
