KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A shooting in northeast Kansas City is being investigated as a homicide Wednesday night.

The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department received a call for a shooting just before 7:30 p.m. in the 3700 block of St. John Avenue. Nearly an hour later, police said the shooting was being investigated as a homicide.

Police said a man was pronounced dead at the scene after being found in the parking lot of a convenience store at the corner of St. John and Monroe. That corner is where a Superior Mini Mart convenience store and gas station is located.

The location is four blocks east of Kessler Park.

KD said detectives are reviewing surveillance camera footage from the building and canvassing the area for witnesses. A preliminary investigation revealed an interaction between individuals in the parking lot took place just before the victim was shot.

Thursday afternoon, KD identified 21-year-old Tracy Williams as the shooting victim.

This is a developing story. KCTV will update it as more information becomes available.
