KHP traffic stop leads to rescue of kidnapped 6-year-old girl
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Monday update: KHP said the arrest happened in February, but they will not release the location of the incident to protect the 6-year-old girl’s identity.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said two men were arrested, and a six-year-old girl was found after being reported kidnapped.
KHP shared the post Saturday, but it didn’t say where and when it happened.
KHP said a trooper stopped a car for a traffic violation. It was then the trooper learned a enger had a warrant for his arrest from another state for kidnapping a six-year-old girl a month earlier.
KHP said two men in their 60s were in the car. The driver is reported to have a criminal history, including homicide and numerous weapons violations.
KHP said the six-year-old girl was removed from the car and initially gave a fake name and birthday, but they were eventually able to get her real name, learning she’d been kidnapped and with the men for more than a month.
KHP said the two men were taken into custody.
