LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) - On Saturday, the Lawrence Police Department announced the arrest of a man who they say “worked hard recently to avoid the courts.”

According to a Facebook post, a man identified through booking records as 49-year-old Geoffry Scott Beers was arrested on the evening of March 21.

LKPD accused Beers of “several crimes,” including “home burglary, thefts, and fleeing from officers Thursday night.” Through the course of their investigation, officers learned where Beers would likely be on Friday. He was subsequently found at an apartment on Cardinal Drive in Lawrence and taken into custody.

The officers said during his arrest, they recovered items similar to the ones reported stolen after the alleged burglary.

Beers was booked into the Douglas County Jail on six felony warrants for failure to appear. Two additional felony charges for interference with law enforcement officers have since been added — one categorized as “obstruct/resist/oppose felony warrants” and the other as “unknown circumstance.”

LKPD said the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office will review the case to determine any official charges.
