‘We won’t stop’: Kansas City couple becomes ‘snow angels’ during record breaking winter
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - 2025’s brutal winter isn’t stopping the Kansas City spirit of helping others. In fact, one couple has made it their mission to lend a helping hand.
Summer Gifford and Corey Sutton got their Thursday morning started bright and early at 8 a.m. At the time, temperatures were well below zero, with a feels-like even lower. That wasn’t stopping them from going outside.
The couple bundled up, traveling across the metro, helping out neighbors at no cost. Thursday was a full day of shoveling and snow blowing, some days led them towards other tasks, like giving out rides. No matter what it is, they answer the call.
“It’s not a matter more or less doing this or doing that, we want to help anybody with anything,” Gifford said.
The couple said their mission started randomly when Corey was bored at home in January 2025. This was in the middle of Kansas City’s historic winter storm and while scrolling through Facebook, Corey noticed a post asking for help. The rest, is history.
“I figured there were a lot of people out there that were stuck and needed help, so I told the wife let’s go out there and see how many people need help,” Sutton said. “We heard some heartfelt stories and we’ve just been at it ever since. We haven’t been able to stop, we won’t stop.”
One of their stops on Thursday morning was at a house owned by a lady named Judy. The couple shoveled her entire walkway and driveway. Their generosity brought her to tears.
“There are more senior citizens and disabled people who are around that people just don’t realize it,” Judy said. “It just means the world to me because otherwise I can’t get out here and do this.”
Over the last several weeks the couple has been best known for shoveling sidewalks and driveways because of the almost constant snowfall. They’ve been able to collect equipment like shovels and snowblowers thanks to donations. Here is the link to their GoFundMe.
Summer and Corey said their goal is to raise enough money for a lawn mower, which would give them an opportunity to continue their efforts past this winter.
