KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Good morning, and happy AFC Championship Sunday!

Chiefs-Bills tailgate temps

Temperatures will be in the low 30s for tailgating this afternoon with decreasing temperatures once the sunsets. The winds will begin to decrease by this afternoon, allowing the feels-like temperatures to be closer to the actual temperatures. A few clouds are rolling in so the sun may not be able to make it feel as warm.

Game time

If you are heading out to Arrowhead, P&L, or a family/friend’s place for the game, temperatures will be around 32 degrees for kick-off. From there, they continually decrease to the mid-20s by the end of the game.

Later this week

Sunday evening’s high pressure will set up over the area, allowing temperatures to increase 10-15 degrees above average for this time of year! This trend starts Monday and continues through Thursday with highs in the upper 40s and low 50s with plenty of sunshine. Make sure to get outside and enjoy this spring treat as it won’t be lasting too long.

The next system moves in Thursday night into Friday, bringing cooler temperatures and precipitation to the forecast. A First Warn is in place for Friday, giving you a heads-up to pack the umbrella and a slightly bigger coat than earlier in the week. The rain will also cause some headaches on the roads for Friday’s morning commute. This morning’s models are keeping the warmer air in place with highs in the upper 30s and low 40s and the low temperatures hovering near the freezing mark. Right now, models are consistent with mostly rain for this event. However, one model does show a quick change over to a wintry mix/snow on Friday overnight north of I-70. However, as of right now, this system will be a rainfall event with no snow impacts.

Another reason to get out and enjoy the nice weather the next few days is that by next week, the ground could be a muddy mess with rain and the snow continuing to melt. Muddy season isn’t too far away!
