NEW ORLEANS (WVUE/Gray News) - Police released body camera footage capturing the deadly confrontation that ended the Bourbon Street terror attack.

The New Orleans Police Department released the footage on Jan. 10. It provides a detailed look at the moments leading up to Shamsud-Din Jabbar’s death as he exchanged gunfire with officers.

Prior to the exchange, Jabbar had used a rented F-150 to barrel through crowds of New Year’s Day revelers, killing 14 and injuring several others.

The video shows three officers surrounding the truck after it crashed into a lift vehicle in the 300 block of Bourbon Street.

A fourth officer, Luis Robles, who was recording the body camera footage released, appears to run toward the open door of the truck. As the officer approaches, a bright muzzle flash is seen erupting from inside the cab of the truck and Jabbar fires a gun from beneath a deployed airbag.

The video shows officers quickly fall back as gunfire continues. Police then returned fire, fatally shooting Jabbar and ending the rampage.

According to an Associated Press report, three officers discharged their weapons during the exchange. They did not disclose how many shots Jabbar fired.

Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick said that two officers injured during the exchange, Joseph Rodrigue and Jacobie Jordan, have been released from the hospital and are recovering
