One in custody after woman found deceased in Kansas City apartment
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - One man is in custody as police continue to investigate after a woman was found deceased in a Kansas City apartment early Thursday morning.
The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department says that just before 3:50 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26, emergency crews were called to the area of E. 134th Ave. near the Forest Ridge Villas with a request for a welfare check.
When first responders arrived, they said they found evidence of a disturbance and checked inside for any victims. When they entered, they found a woman who had ed out due to the extent of her injuries which appeared to be traumatic. Attempts to revive her were unsuccessful and she was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Thursday night, police identified the woman killed as 42-year-old Tiffany Chrisman.
Investigators indicated that they found the woman had been involved in an altercation with a man that turned physical. Due to the help of neighbors, detectives found the suspect quickly and took him into custody. They are not looking for any additional suspects.
KD said it believes this may be a domestic violence-related incident.
Law enforcement officials noted that they continue to respond to the scene to gather evidence and collect witness statements. No further information has been released, including the suspect’s identity.
