Nonprofit unveils new homes, learning center for Kansas City’s at-risk youth

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A worldwide nonprofit celebrated Giving Tuesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new learning center location for at-risk youth in the Kansas City metro area.
Tuesday morning, the HALO Foundation, which helps homeless and at-risk children around the world hosted a ribbon cutting for a multi-phased project near I-435 South and Blue Parkway that will open officially in January 2025.
“This expansion reflects the heart of our mission: ensuring that every child has the foundation of a family. The of our community has made this possible, and we’re proud to celebrate with our partners and s,” said HALO Founder and CEO Rebecca Welsh.
The project is near the Truman Sports Complex and is located on 37 acres of land.
Welsh said the KC Learning Center serves over 700 homeless and at-risk children. The organization is hiring as well, with a need for full-time, part-time, day and overnight positions when it opens in January 2025.
