Easier access: Jackson County opens new voting locations before Election Day
BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. (KCTV) - Jackson County has made some changes by adding new locations for absentee voting.
Voters in Eastern Jackson County just got more resources in Blue Springs and Lee’s Summit to cast their ballot before Election Day.
Voters will no longer be forced to drive to Independence to vote early. Chris Miller was thrilled to learn this.
“It’s made my day more better and makes voting more viable,” Miller said. “And real easy for us because I Know the lines can get long up there at the board of elections.”

Like Kansas, Tammy Brown and her team expect a big turnout.
“I think we’re going to get upwards of 70%,” the Director of the Jackson County Board of Elections estimated.
Miller and his family want to avoid the long lines with these new locations.
“I don’t know what my schedule is, then with the health issues of both my father and my wife,” Miller worried. “Being able to get it taken care of early and not having to stand in those long lines is beneficial for everybody.”
From Tuesday until Thursday, voters in Easter Jackson County can cast an absentee vote at the Fleming Meeting Hall in Blue Springs located at 21906 SW Woods Chapel Road, Blue Springs, Missouri.

On Friday and Saturday, early voting will be held at the Park Rangers Recreation Division in Lee’s Summit at 3310 Rennau Drive, Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

That same schedule will continue into next week. Voters can still vote absentee at their main office in Independence at 215 North Liberty Street, Independence, Missouri.

“We want to take a little pressure off our other absentee office,” Brown said. “This makes the location much better for our voters in Grandview, Blue Springs, Lee’s Summit, Lone Jack. They don’t have to drive over to Independence Square to vote.”
Each of these satellite absentee voting locations will open from 8:30 am until 5:00 pm.
Voters will need to bring a valid Missouri Driver’s License or a Federal Government I.D. that has not expired before Nov. 2022.
