LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. (KCTV) - Saturday was a special day for everyone in Royals Nation as the team played in the ALDS for the first time since 2015. However, for one die-hard fan, Saturday was extra special.

Suzie Warren is as big of a Royals fan as they come. She’s been a fan since birth and keeps her hair dyed blue year-round to the team.

Saturday, she got married moments before first pitch in the ALDS. Warren found out about the scheduling conflict just days before the wedding, forcing her to make arrangements to stay informed about the game during her wedding.

“I was like, ‘Oh my! I’m going to have my sons go across the hall and keep me informed of the score and let us know,’ because we were right in the middle of the ceremony,” said Warren.

Warren and her new husband, Kurt Kirn, had their own “Royal” wedding Saturday night.

The wedding was set for 5 p.m. at the VFW in Lee’s Summit, about a half-hour before Game 1 of the ALDS in the Bronx. Her kids say the Royals playing in the playoffs during the wedding was a pleasant surprise.

“It’s a great wedding gift. She would rather they be playing than not playing,” said her son, Kellen Warren. “She didn’t have it planned [to have her wedding on the day of a playoff game]. She always had hope that we would be playing at this point. It was even on the invitation.”

Suzie’s new husband says he had a feeling the Royals would play on their wedding day. When the ALDS schedule came out, he knew his soon-to-be wife would have her eyes on more than just him – as they tied the knot with blue rings.

“I did see this coming,” Kirn said. “I wasn’t really afraid of the situation. I just knew that my now wife was going to be next door watching the Royals game.”

Some of Suzie’s friends have asked her to dye her hair red for the Chiefs, but she says she won’t because she is all about the Royals. She thinks the “boys in blue” have a chance to make a deep run this postseason.

“I think maybe because we did this on this day, we could go all the way,” Warren said. “I really do because I have a lot of faith in them, and I believe.”
