Brinker died last Tuesday afternoon after suffering a medical emergency during a training exercise.

“It’s been a very challenging week for us and certainly for his family and our condolences go out to the family,” said KCFD fire chief Ross Grundyson.
Brinker served in KCFD for 11 years. Previously, he had served as a firefighter, emergency medical technician, and paramedic in Pennsylvania.

Most recently, he served at Station 35, one of KCFD’s busiest stations. Grundyson describes Brinker as the epitome of a public servant.
