Jackson County Election Board adds absentee voting locations

LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. (KCTV) - People who live in Eastern Jackson County and are ed to vote will not have to drive to Independence to cast an absentee ballot for the November 5 election.
The Jackson County Election Board opened a new location in Blue Springs. The site will be more convenient for people who live on the eastside of the county.
BLUE SPRINGS

The location will open for absentee voting beginning on October 22.

The election board said the building is ADA compliant and has multiple handicap accessible parking spots.

LEE’S SUMMIT
There is also a satellite office in Lee’s Summit.

INDEPENDENCE
Voters will still be able to cast an absentee ballot in Independence.

That office is located at 110 N. Liberty Street. The Independence location is also open from will also be open on Election Day.

Absentee voting started September 24 in Missouri. Anyone who plans to cast an absentee ballot before October 22 is required to have one of the following acceptable excuses to cast an early ballot.
- Absence on election day from the jurisdiction of the election authority where ed
- Incapacity or confinement due to illness or physical disability, including caring for a person who is incapacitated or confined due to illness or disability and resides at the same address
- Religious belief or practice
- Employment as:
- An election authority, as a member of an election authority, or by an election authority at a location other than my polling place
- A first responder
- A health care worker
- A member of law enforcement
- Incarceration, after retaining all necessary qualifications for voting
- Certified participation in the address confidentiality program established under sections 589.660 to 589.681 because of safety concerns
Photo identification is required to cast an absentee ballot.

Voters who wish to cast an early ballot starting on October 22 do not need one of the above excuses.
