Procession to funeral home honors fallen Kansas City firefighter

First responders escorted the body of fallen Kansas City, Missouri, firefighter Kyle Brinker to a funeral home.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Emergency crews lined up to honor fallen Kansas City, Missouri, firefighter Kyle Brinker.

Brinker died Tuesday afternoon after suffering a medical emergency during a training exercise.

Thursday morning, a number of emergency responders lined up outside Midwest Transplant Network near 47th & State Line. They escorted his body to a Kansas City-area funeral home.

At least a dozen emergency responders were involved in the procession for the 33-year-old, 11-year veteran of the Kansas City, Missouri, Fire Department.

Brinker leaves behind a wife. His brother is also a member of the Kansas City, Missouri, Fire Department.

The Surviving Spouse and Family Endowment Fund said it plans to deliver a $40,000 check to Brinker’s family to help with any expenses they may have. The fund is available to the family of any fallen first responder.

Brinker’s funeral arrangements have not been announced.
