Reports: Chiefs sign Humphrey to new deal, making him highest-paid center in NFL history

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Kansas City Chiefs made another player the highest-paid at their position in the National Football League on Thursday.
According to multiple reports, Chiefs center Creed Humphrey reached agreement on an extension that keeps him with Kansas City for four years.
The deal was first reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. ESPN’s Adam Schefter said Humphrey’s $72 million extension -- which includes a reported $50 million in guarantees -- makes him the league’s highest-paid center.
Humphrey was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma. He’s started 51 games in three seasons with Kansas City and has been a Pro Bowler twice.

In each of the last two seasons, the 25-year-old from Shawnee, Oklahoma, has snapped footballs to Patrick Mahomes as the Chiefs have won back-to-back Super Bowls.
During training camp, kicker Harrison Butker was given the richest contract in NFL history for a kicker. Humphrey s Butker, tight end Travis Kelce and defensive tackle Chris Jones as four Chiefs who are the highest-paid in the NFL at their position.
While the Chiefs took on the Chicago Bears during the final preseason game of 2024, general manager Brett Veach visited with Ari Wolfe and Trent Green, and said the deal should be officialized soon.
“I’m pretty sure we will put pen to paper soon,” Veach said, noting the organization’s excitement to keep Humphrey in Kansas City for an extended period of time.
