KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The official FIFA licensed Fan Fest for the 2026 World Cup in Kansas City will be at the World War I Museum and Memorial, and the revelation of that location shows what we will be showing off when KC takes the world stage.

Mayor Quinton Lucas shared the news Wednesday afternoon at the Liberty Memorial.

“A lot of our happiest times, our most crowded ones, have been right here,” Lucas said. “To share that Kansas City tradition with the world, for people to come here and have fun is something that’s thrilling for us.”

The Liberty Memorial is centrally located in Kansas City and the major metropolitan area. It’s also well close to numerous hotels in downtown Kansas City.

KC 2026 CEO Pam Kramer is focused on transportation with Jason Sims – the new transportation director for the World Cup preparation. Transit to the Liberty Memorial should also be easier than some other areas.

“The Streetcar line, by that time, will be expanded to the Plaza, so this will be a central connection point,” Kramer said.

Other communities, like the many that are located in Kansas, are expected to build off the fan fest announcement, because fans will be staying on both sides of the state line.

Johnson County Commission Board Chairman Mike Kelly was at the announcement and also sits on the board for KC 2026.

“Activations for the World Cup will be in a lot of different places across the region that includes Johnson County,” Kelly said. “We’re also going to come down here and celebrate and get ready to welcome the world to Kansas City.”
