Mizzou, K-State, KU all ranked in preseason AP poll for first time in history

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - For the first time ever, Missouri, Kansas and Kansas State are all ranked in the preseason AP Top 25 football poll.
On Monday, the AP released its preseason poll for the 2024 season. Mizzou (11), K-State (18) and KU (22) each found themselves in it, marking the first time that’s ever happened for the three local schools.
It was the 11th time in program history Mizzou has cracked the preseason poll. For K-State, it was the 14th time they’ve appeared in the preseason poll, and for KU, their seventh.

The Tigers were ranked behind Georgia (1), Texas (4), Alabama (5) and Ole Miss (6) among teams from the Southeastern Conference. Despite ranking behind LSU in the SEC’s preseason poll, Mizzou came in two spots ahead of the Bayou Bengals.
Mizzou’s No. 11 ranking is their third-best preseason ranking in program history and best since they opened the 2008 season as the nation’s No. 6 ranked team.

Both the Wildcats and Jayhawks were among the five Big 12 teams to make the poll, ing Utah (12), Oklahoma State (17) and Arizona (21).
The Tigers open their season on Aug. 29 against Murray State. Kansas begins its year with a game against Lindenwood on Aug. 29 and K-State hosts UT Martin in Manhattan on Aug. 31.
