Kansas City’s Operation BBQ Relief helps feed the need after Hurricane Debby

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A Kansas City-based organization is showing the love while helping victims of Hurricane Debby.
Sarasota, Fla., area providing hot meals to anyone impacted by the storm.
The group plans to hand out free meals to anyone who drops by until they run out. The giveaway will happen daily until the organization is no longer needed.
Operation BBQ Relief is asking for donations and volunteers. Anyone who is in the area and can help feed storm victims is asked to sign up through the Operation BBQ Relief website. Donations to the effort can also be made online.

The relief organization has also deployed to help victims in Texas and many other locations this year.
Operation BBQ Relief started after the Joplin, Mo. tornado in 2011. Kansas City Pit Masters decided they wanted to help the community recover following the storm. After brainstorming about the best way to help, they decided to focus on food and making sure everyone had something to eat as they worked to clear storm debris.
Since 2011, Operation BBQ Relief says it has provided more than 11 million meals and counting.
