KU reveals headliner for 40th Annual Late Night in the Phog
LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) - The University of Kansas has revealed its Grammy Award-winning headliner set to take the stage for the 40th Annual Late Night in the Phog.
The University of Kansas Athletics Department announced on Thursday, July 18, that three-time Grammy Award winner Nelly is set to headline the 40th Annual Late Night in the Phog presented by Hy-Vee and Adidas. The rap superstar is set to take the stage in historic Allen Fieldhouse on Friday, Oct. 18.
KU Athletics officials indicated that Nelly, who stepped on the scene in 2000, was one of the first to blur the lines of musical genres with Over and Over, a Hip Hop-Country mix with Tim McGraw. He has also accompanied some of the most prestigious orchestras, including in St. Louis, Columbus and Pittsburgh.
KU noted that Late Night, which began in 1985, is also set to feature the KU pep band, routines from KU’s spirit squad and dance teams and video highlights from the award-winning Rock Chalk Video department, coach and player introductions, scrimmages and more.
Further information about the event and Phogfest are set to be announced at a later date. Information about how to claim tickets has been promised later this summer.
Earlier in July, the Kansas Men’s Basketball team also released its non-conference schedule for the season. The community will also celebrate 70 seasons inside Allen Fieldhouse.
