KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - An arrest was made after one man walked into a Kansas City hospital, assaulted a healthcare worker and then fired a gun.

The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department tells KCTV5 News that around 9:10 p.m. on Friday, July 12, emergency crews were called to St. Luke’s Hospital at 4401 of Wornall Rd. with reports of shots fired inside the hospital.

First responders indicated that security was told about an individual who entered the hospital and assaulted a staff member. When they attempted to take him into custody, the man pulled out a handgun and fired a single shot.

Last night at Saint Luke’s Hospital an intruder discharged a firearm after being confronted by Security. The individual was apprehended on site and no one was injured. We are cooperating fully with law enforcement and providing to staff. We are grateful for the quick and professional response of our Saint Luke’s Security team.

However, the hospital claimed that no assault happened.

KD said the man was put in handcuffs until officers arrived. No injuries were reported as a result of the shooting. No further information has been released.
