WICHITA, Kan. (KCTV) - One of the final steps to turn Kansas roadways toward cashless tolling has finally been completed as a new website has gone live.

The Kansas Turnpike Authority said on Wednesday, July 10, that it has achieved a milestone in its conversion to cashless telling. Its three customer service centers and new toll payment system, DriveKS, are now in operation.

Kansas transportation officials indicated that toll payments and management will now take place at www.DriveKS.com. Customers can also call 800-USE-KTAG or visit the walk-in customer service centers in Wichita, Topeka and Lawrence.

“We are excited to provide a new toll payment system to customers as part of our cashless tolling conversion,” said Steve Hewitt, KTA CEO. “Customers now have an easy way to pay tolls through DriveKS.com.”

Officials noted that established KTAG customers may use their KTAG credentials to access their new DriveKS s. Those who wish to make a violation or video payment issued by the previous toll system can use their statement ID.

KTA said a new DriveKS mobile app will also soon be available once it is approved through the App Store and Google Play. That decision is expected within the next few weeks. Once available, customers will need to delete the old myKTAG app and the new DriveKS app.

Now that the new toll payment system is up and running, officials said their attention will now turn toward to generating its first toll statements out of the new system as well as fine-tuning. Statement generation is expected to begin in late July or early August.

Meanwhile, crews continue to work to decommission toll booths. Contracts for toll plaza demolition and lane configuration will begin at the end of July and will take about 18 months. Drivers have been encouraged to stay alert and watch for crews as they use these interchanges.
