He added, “They are waiting for this agreement of course they are not going to do anything till there is an agreement so this month is key.”

He said Buc-ee’s could start work soon depending on what happens.

“If everything goes right it could start turning dirt by the end of the year,” said Johnston.

The location they are looking at is right near I-70 and 110th St., a 57-acre property.

“We are going to be interested to see what blueprint they choose for this site,” said Johnston.

It has many people excited for the possible new venture to west KCK.

“I think there is already a lot of motion and movement within this part of town so to have an extra thing to kind to bring people out and see fun things going on in Kansas City is going to be cool,” said Liberty resident, Kayleigh Bednar. She added, “I think it is a lot of fun. I think it is a good thing I think it brings a lot of people together in some fun ways.”

If the company builds a location near Kansas Speedway, it would be the first Buc-ee’s in the state of Kansas. The company opened its first location in Missouri in Springfield in December.
