KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - After going into cardiac arrest during a special teams meeting Thursday at the Chiefs practice facility, defensive end BJ Thompson’s agent provided an update to NFL Network later in the evening.

Thompson’s agent, Chris Turnage, told NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero that Thompson suffered a seizure.

“BJ is still unconscious at this point, but he’s stable and vitals are good,” Turnage told Pelissero, just after 10:30 p.m. CT Thursday. “His family asks for your continued prayers.”

The Chiefs canceled practice Thursday after the medical emergency Thompson suffered. The second-year defensive end from Stephen F. Austin was taken away from the facility via ambulance.

Thompson was a fifth-round pick in 2023 out of Stephen F. Austin University. He played in one game as a rookie last season.

The Chiefs have said practice is expected to take place Friday morning. It is one of the final practices of their voluntary OTA session ahead of required OTAs and training camp in the weeks to come.
