Gone too soon: Nolan Davidson memorialized at Lenexa elementary school
LENEXA, Kan. (KCTV) - Thursday afternoon, family and friends will gather outside of Christa McAullife Elementary, dedicating a garden to Nolan Davidson.
The 9-year-old was killed following a car crash in December 2023. At the time of his ing, his family released this message on Caring Bridge.
It is with much sorrow that our family announces the ing of Nolan Davidson this evening. Nolan was surrounded by the love of close family and church at the time of his ing. Our family is hurting but we are finding comfort knowing that Nolan’s spirit left this earth and entered into a life of eternity in heaven. We have also chosen Nolan as a “Hero Donor” in hopes that he can provide a miracle for somebody else in need. There will be a Celebration of Life to honor the extraordinary life of Nolan and the people he impacted. More details to come. Thank you to everyone for the outpouring of . Since his ing, communities around the Kansas City Metro have ed him through walks, donations, and ceremonies.
Community sale raises funds for family after 9-year-old Lenexa boy dies in crash
As of May 16, 2024, a GoFundMe for the family has raised over $160,000.
KCTV5 spoke with the principal at Christa McAullife, Michael Orr, and he said Nolan was a kind-hearted student and dedicating the garden to him was the right thing to do.
“Always talk about his light shining bright and my hope is that he can be ed that way,” Orr said. “People that come out here can continue to grow and share in his light.”
The man charged in the crash, Matthew Jacobo, is facing multiple charges in connection with the crash including DUI-aggravated battery causing great harm. Those charges were filed before Nolan’s ing. Jacobo is listed in jail bookings with a $1 million bond.
