Chiefs build defense with Washington State’s Hicks at NFL Draft

DETROIT, Mich. (KCTV) – The Chiefs continue to build their defense with a prospect from Washington State in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Kansas City Chiefs have drafted Washington State’s Jaden Hicks with the 133rd overall pick in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Las Vegas native earned a 6.24 prospect grade at the NFL Combine with a production score of 68, an athleticism score of 75 and a total score of 73. He jumped 37.5 feet in the vertical and 10 ft. and 2 in. in the broad. He ran 6.88 seconds in the 3-cone drill and 4.37 seconds in the 20-yard shuttle. He also bench-pressed 16 reps at the event.

The 6 ft. 2, 211 lb Safety redshirted in the 2021 season and played in 1 game as a reserve. However, in 2022, Hicks played in all 13 games with 11 starts that include 76 tackles, 2 tackles for loss with 1 sack, an interception and 6 breakups.

In the 2023 season, Hicks shined with an Honorable Mention in the All-Pac-12 Conference. He started in all 12 games with 79 tackles, 6 tackles for loss with 2.5 sacks, 2 interceptions with one returned for a touchdown, 4 breakups, a forced fumble and a blocked kick.
