KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Kansas City Chiefs traded up during the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. With the 28th pick the Chiefs took wide receiver Xavier Worthy.

Before Worthy’s big night, he took time to thank one of the key people in his life who helped him get to the NFL.

Last week, Worthy surprised the man he calls his mentor. Chris Maxey was Worthy’s childhood football coach.

Worthy teamed up with TCL, the official TV partner of the NFL, to give Maxey a new 98″ TV. Now Maxey will be able to kick back and watch Worthy running all over the football field while chasing NFL records.

“Yo Chris, man. It’s X, man.” Worthy said in a video shared by TCL. Big week coming up jusst wanted to drop some love your way. Thank you for inspiring greatness in me and kinda just looking out for me and being that father figure.”

The video goes on to show the TV being delivered and hung in Maxey’s house.

Maxey then shared a special message for Worthy.

“Congratulations Xavier. Thank you for the 98″ TV from TCL. I can’t wait to watch you be drafted by the NFL. Congratulations. Keep running off on them. Score a lot of touchdowns,” Maxey said.

Chiefs Kingdom undoubtedly agrees with Coach Maxey and can’t wait to see Worthy score a lot of touchdowns while wearing a Chiefs uniform.
