KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Kansas City has a new heartbeat. KC kicked off the 2024 Parade of Hearts series at Union Station less than a month after the Super Bowl Parade shooting.

You’ve probably seen the hearts scattered through the city, taking on a life of their own and telling different stories. This year, the first heart at Union Station is designed to help Kansas City heal.

The mass shooting left over two dozen injured and took the life of Lisa Lopez-Galvan.

The heart at Union Station is different than the others around KC. For the first time, you can add your own message and stick a heart on the exterior.

“There’s so much going on in the world and this is a small gesture an, opportunity for you to show some ,” Parade of Hearts artist, Matt Dehaemers said. “To feel like you have a way to just show your for the challenges that we have right now.”

You can write a message on the heart until Thursday, March 5. There will be over one hundred hearts in the 2024 Parade of Hearts series.
