KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Kansas City Chiefs are back-to-back Super Bowl champions!

The Chiefs came back on Sunday evening to defeat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime. Shortly after, the team released its parade details.

It will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 14 and kick off at 11 a.m. at 6th Street and Grand Boulevard. The parade will head south on Grand, then west on Pershing Road, north on Main Street and will culminate at Union Station.

The parade to celebrate the Chiefs will last approximately 1.5 hours.

The rally in front of Union Station will take place about 12:45 p.m. in front of Union Station and the National WWI Museum and Memorial north lawn.

The Chiefs have released the following details regarding the parade:

PARADE ROUTE AND ROAD CLOSURES

VIEW PARADE MAP

Pershing Road, from Main Street to Kessler Rd, will be closed beginning Monday, February 12. Road closures on the parade route will begin on Tuesday, February 13 at 11 a.m.

Union Station will be closed to public access beginning Tuesday, February 13 at 11:59 p.m. It will reopen on Wednesday, February 14 at approximately 4 p.m.

The streets running east and west of Grand Blvd will be closed between Walnut & McGee from 6th Street on the north to Pershing Road on the south. Street closures will be in effect beginning at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 13.

Main Street, from 20th Street to Pershing Road will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians on Wednesday, Feb. 14.

Main Street from Pershing Road to 27th Street will be closed to vehicles but open to pedestrians. Additional closures on Main Street from 27th to 31st will be in effect when the parade starts.

VEHICULAR TRAFFIC

Vehicular Traffic will be allowed to cross at the following locations until Wednesday morning at 8 a.m.

  • 7th Street / iral Blvd
  • Truman Road North and South
  • 18th Street
  • 12th Street (until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13)
  • 13th Street (until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13)

PEDESTRIAN CROSSINGS

Pedestrian Crossings along the parade route on Grand will be available at the following locations. Please look for the large red feather flags to indicate crosswalk.

  • 9th Street
  • 13th Street
  • Truman Road
  • 18th Street
  • 20th Street

Motorists should avoid the areas along and around the parade route, including Grand Blvd, Pershing Road and Main Street. Drivers should use alternate routes and allow for extra time when traveling in the area.

There will be significant travel delays on Wednesday. Additional road closures and lane restrictions may be necessary during the event to maintain public safety.

Streets will reopen as early as conditions allow.

TRANSIT AND PARKING

There will be significant travel delays on roadways and street closures immediately before, during, and after the Chiefs Kingdom Champions Parade.

KC STREETCAR

On Wednesday, February 14, KC Streetcar enger service will be available at all streetcar stops except Union Station. Starting Wednesday morning, riders and parade goers must exit the KC Streetcar at the Crossroads southbound stop. Northbound travelers may board the KC Streetcar at the Crossroads northbound stop. The Union Station streetcar stop will close to engers at the end of regular service Tuesday, February 13.

KC Streetcar service will start at its regularly scheduled time of 6:00 a.m. and will operate with 10-12 minute frequencies until approximately 10:30 a.m. At that time, streetcar service will be temporarily suspended until the end of the Chiefs Kingdom Champions Parade and Rally. Streetcar service will resume once the tracks are clear between 20th Street and Pershing Road. Notice of the resumption of service will be posted on the KC Streetcar website, social media channels, and communicated through our RideKC Notify text alert service. Sign up for notification of resumption of streetcar service by texting “streetcar” to 816.685.8541.

KCATA PARK & RIDE LOCATIONS (ROUNDTRIP SERVICE PROVIDED)

Park and Ride shuttles will run from 7:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m., and then again from 12 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.. Riders need to return to the drop off location for their specific shuttle. Please for possible wait times at park and ride locations. Be prepared for a 45 minute wait at popular locations.

JOHNSON COUNTY TRANSIT PLANS

Freedom and SWIFT service will operate as normal Wednesday. There will not be any other RideKC transit service in Johnson County offered on Wednesday.

Free shuttle service to downtown Kansas City, Missouri, will run from one park-and-ride location:

  • Johnson County riders can get a lift at the Oak Park Mall park-and-ride location, 11149 W. 95th St., Overland Park. The pickup site will be on the east side of the mall parking lot.
  • People should park at the mall and walk over to catch the bus.
  • Shuttle service will begin at 7 a.m. on Wednesday. The last trip to the parade will leave at 10 a.m. If you’re not on a bus by 10 a.m., you won’t be able to ride.
  • engers will be dropped off on Southwest Boulevard and should return to 25th and Southwest Boulevard to ride back to Oak Park Mall.
  • Return trips to Johnson County will begin at noon and continue until 4 p.m.

Riders should be prepared for significant wait times to board a shuttle.

Because traffic is expected to be heavy, it is estimated that a single round trip will run at least 90 minutes.

PARKING RESTRICTIONS

There will be parking restrictions along and around the parade route. These restrictions go into effect at 11:00am on Tuesday, February 13, and extend into the evening on Wednesday, February 14. Cars parked in temporary no parking zones will be relocated at owner’s expense. Cars parked on the interstate will be relocated at owner’s expense. If your vehicle has been relocated, you may call (816) 513-0688 for the location.

Most lots around the parade site will be charging for parking, including the National WWI Museum and Memorial, Union Station and Crown Center. Please check the organization websites for more details.

Travel to downtown KCMO by scooter or bike! There are three micro-mobility partners in Kansas City that provide an alternative way to navigate around town during parade festivities: RideKCBike and Bird.

Please keep in mind:

  • Scooters and bikes will not be permitted to ride in road closure areas
  • Be mindful of pedestrians and do not ride on sidewalks
  • Obey traffic laws

PUBLIC SAFETY INFORMATION

The perimeter of the parade will be firmly secured and protected for maximum public safety. The City asks the public to do their part, use common sense, and stay aware of their surroundings. Attendees should immediately report suspicious activity by notifying a police officer or dialing 911.

Use, operation, deployment, or monitoring of any aerial vehicle, including but not limited to any fixed wing rotoaircraft, drone, rocket, powered balloons, ultralights, or model aircraft, regardless of whether controlled by line of sight, radio frequency, tethers, or any other means, is prohibited at any time during the parade. Violators may be subject to prosecution and fines for violations of FAA regulated airspace restrictions.

Attendees Should:

  • Not leave bags unattended and immediately police if they notice an unattended bag.
  • Make a plan regarding travel, parking, supervision of children and wear comfortable and warm attire. Be prepared to walk, as road closures near the parade route will lead to traffic congestion and delays.
  • Note that CELL PHONE RECEPTION MAY BE EXTREMELY LIMITED.
  • Make a plan in case you become separated from your party, including identifying meetup points in case of separation. It is recommended that you take photos of your family in the event that you need to locate them and identify what they are wearing.
  • Ensure children have information for their parents or guardians on their person.

MEDICAL

The Kansas City Fire Department will have roving crews and also a staffed medic (EMS) tent on the eastside of the National WWI Museum between the north and south lawn (see map for location).

If you require emergency medical attention, locate a roving KCFD firefighter. KCFD crews will be located on the perimeter of the parade route and around Union Station. They will be identifiable via fluorescent green vests and flags.

REUNIFICATION

If you become separated from your group, locate a police officer. Any missing people or children will be taken to one of seven reunification locations:

ACCESSIBILITY

Parade producers have designated space in Crown Center Square for wheelchairs and ADA accessibility. Please be advised that space is limited and is first come, first served. The parade and rally will be televised in this area. ASL interpreters will be present.

ASL interpreters will also be present on the rally stage and will be shown on the video boards during the rally.
