KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Just a few hours after the ATF director spoke in Kansas City about rising gun violence, police worked two more homicides in the city after a woman was killed in a home and a man was fatally shot outside a gas station.

Officers were called at 8 p.m. to a home on Bellefontaine Avenue near E. 49th Street regarding a shooting. Once there, they found an unresponsive woman inside the home suffering from a gunshot wound. Police and EMS tried to perform lifesaving measures on her, but she died at the scene. On Wednesday afternoon, the police identified her as 22-year-old Shayla Curts.

Just hours after that deadly shooting, Kansas City officers responded to a shooting around 3 a.m. outside of a BP gas station at Truman Road and The Paseo. On Wednesday afternoon, the police identified him as 27-year-old Joshua R. Williams.
